Dear readers. If you read my recent posts about putting together the party you may have thought that things were going bad on my end. Yes, the couples party turned out to be a bit of a disaster, and it didn't happen, but I forgot to mention a few things.

First of all. I/we have some REALLY fun dates lined up for the next month or two. So while the party didn't work out we have some other things coming up that we're really looking forward to. The cruise is still coming up in March! I need to write an update about that.

Yes, every couple cancelled on us. But we also had a lady friend who had wanted to check out the party. Our friend Margy who has been mentioned in the past. She wrote to us a few days ago wanting to know what was up with the party. We told her that all the couples had cancelled. Party poopers

So our party is officially a bust. In the past week we've had four different couples cancel on us. Wow. Amazing. Got the last email this morning. Another excuse/reason. I'm remembering now why I stopped doing this. So much work and then it can all fall apart like a house of cards just like that. Usually you deal with the 50% rule. Half the people you invite don't make it on the day of the party. We didn't even get that far!

The rational part of my brain says that it's just bad luck/timing. The emotional side of my brain says it's because we're obviously unattractive and boring and not fun. Sigh.

We have one of those rooms that you can cancel the day before. We think we'll just go ahead and chill this weekend and watch baseball instead. Just have fun at home the two of us. I'll probably try again in a few months. My plan was to do this four times a year. So we'll try again in January. I don't feel like putting in the work to set something up anytime soon. 

Party planning

So about five years ago we tried setting up a few hotel parties. We would rent a nice big hotel suite and get about 4 or 5 couples to join us for a small orgy. My memory was that one of them turned out fantastic then another didn't go so well. But we've been thinking it would be fun to set one up again.

We figured out a date that would work for us and reserved a hotel suite at a place we've been to many times. It's sort of a swingers mecca in the Chicago area. Then two bedrooms, each with a bathroom, off to each side. One with a king bed and the other with two twins. Perfect...

We started to contact all the couples we know. Right off the bat it seemed like a bunch of folks had conflicts or couldn't make it that weekend. Saturday was a week before the party. I thought I would send out a little "see you in a week!" message to the two couples that were still coming. I sent a text to one of the couples. I didn't expect to hear back from them since I knew they were on vacation. I got a note back from the other couple. They just found out that the lady half wouldn't be able to attend. He wanted to know if he could come on his own?

Nope. Sorry. Not what we were looking for. Furthermore. Crap. Really? All of a sudden we're down to just one other couple. We're wondering if we should just cancel the whole thing? We actually really want to meet this other couple though. They were the one couple that was coming that we haven't played with before. But now we feel sort of weird about it all. We were inviting them to this couples orgy party and now things just aren't working out.

I'm remembering now why we stopped doing this. It's a lot of work. But when the stars align and things work out these sorts of parties can be amazing. We'll see how it goes. We're still talking to a few people We still have our hot date ad up. Part of this is perhaps our own fault as well. We've gotten notes from a few couples that we weren't into for one reason or another. We can be picky. We would rather have a smaller party with just a few people that we're really attracted to.

So we'll see. Next Sat night was the night. We'll see what happens...
