Condoms

You may have noticed in the first story that there was no mention of condoms. That's because we didn't use them with the first couple we met. When we first started in the lifestyle, it was the late 80's. The AIDS epidemic had already started but there was an attitude among most swinger types that AIDS was only for gay men and drug users. Nobody used condoms.

We eventually ended up going to the swingers clubs and it was the same thing there. Nobody used them. We were really surprised.

We in fact, like to think that we were trailblazing swingers in that we seemed to be one of the first couples who would insist on using them.

After many long talks together we decided to tell the first couple that we played with that we wanted to start using condoms when we played. The guy told us that he wouldn't do that because they didn't fit his cock and were so uncomfortable. We ended up "breaking up" with them eventually because of this. When we would go to the clubs we would have other couples sometimes refuse to play with us because we used condoms.

We've been doing this long enough that we've been able to notice trends in swinging. People started using condoms in the 90's. In the 00's it seemed like everyone used them (or at least said they did). Now we've started to notice more and more couples who say that they're looking for bareback play. I doubt there will ever be a time like the 70's when nobody used them, but it does seem like the trend is changing again.

We think we'll continue to play it safe. Perhaps part of the reason why is because it's worked for us so far! We've been doing this stuff for over 20 years and neither one of us has ever caught any STIs that we know of. We both get tested regularly and we always come up clean.

btw...  I like what Dan Savage has to say about using condoms. What happens when you're using a condom and it breaks? You don't notice. Because it feels pretty much the same. So if it feels the same. Use them!
